5-a-side Football

  1. Each society can register a maximum of two teams.
  1. Each team registered for this event will consist of 5 players and 5 reserves. Only the 10 registered players registered at the start of the game may participate. A breach in this rule will result in a nullification of any games played under the circumstances. The opposing teams will be awarded a walkover win.
  1. The Referee will decide which team will kick off the game by means of a coin toss.
  1. The system consists of group stage in the first round and the knock out stage in the second round. During the group stage, each match consists of 9 minutes per half with 1 minute interval. Each team will face each other in their allocated group and the aim is to get the maximum point. Points allocated are win:3, lose:0 and draw:1. In cases of having the same points, ranking will be given based on goal differences.
  1. In the second round, each half takes a bit longer with 15 minutes per half with 2 minute interval. The winning team advances to the next stage while the losing team stopped playing. In case of a draw, extra time of 5 minute per half will be played and if the result remains draw, three one step penalty shootout will decide the result.
  1. Each team is reminded to be PUNCTUAL where the team who arrived more than 5 minutes late will be considered the loser (0-3) and 3 points will be given freely to the other opponent.
  1. Players can only score from outside the ‘D’ area surrounding the goal. Only Goalkeepers are allowed within the ‘D’ at all times, other then when a penalty is awarded. If an Attacking player steps into his opponent’s ‘D’, a free kick is awarded to the Defending team. The Goalkeeper may take the free kick from anywhere inside the ‘D’. If a Defending player steps into his own ‘D’, a penalty is immediately awarded to the Attacking team.
  1. When a penalty is awarded, the player taking the penalty is the only player other than the Goalkeeper allowed in the ‘D’. The player must observe the one step rule when taking the penalty. He may take the penalty once the Referee has blown the whistle after confirming that the Goalkeeper is ready. When the Goalkeeper defends the penalty, he must remain on the goal line until the kick is taken. Rebounds from the penalty can only be taken from outside the ‘D’.
  1. The offside rule does not apply.
  1. The back pass rule applies. It is an infringement for the Goalkeeper to handle a ball that has been intentionally passed back to him or her through a kick. The Attacking team will be awarded a penalty in this instance.
  1. The Goalkeeper can only keep the ball in possession in the ‘D’ for a period of no more than 5 seconds, be it handling or otherwise. An infringement of this rule will result in a Free kick being awarded to the Attacking team 1 meter out of the ‘D’.
  1. In the instance where a foul has been committed and the opposing team has been awarded a free kick, it will be taken at the point of the foul and the defending team is required to stay 3 metres or 9 feet away. Failure to abide by this rule will allow the Referee to advance the free kick by 5 meters. There will not be a distinction between direct and indirect free kicks.
  1. When the ball is kicked to a height above shoulder level, a free kick will be awarded to the opposing team from where the kick was made.
  1. When the ball is kicked out of play over the walls or into the nets, a free kick is awarded to the opposing team, to be taken where the ball exits play.
  1. The Referee has the authority to:
  1.
    1. Control the Start and End of matches
  1.
    1. Halt or pause the game in a case of injury or miscellaneous emergencies
  1.
    1. Pause time in order to make explanations to the players should he wish to do so
  1.
    1. To send off any player for violent conduct, unprofessional behaviour or dissent. The player whom is sent off cannot play for the remainder of the tournament.
  1. Rolling Substitution is allowed.
  1. Champion will get the trophy and medal while the first up will only get the medal. A special award will be given to the top scorer.
